Potata: Fairy Flower là một tựa game platformer trong đó bạn sẽ sắm vai một phù thủy tập sự trong chuyến hành trình nguy hiểm ở những nơi rừng thiêng thú độc. Và tại nơi này bạn sẽ phải giải các câu đố cũng như phải đánh bại những tên quái vật.

Mặc dù không phải là một tựa game AAA đầy tham vọng như Ori and the Blind Forest nhưng Potata: Fairy Flower cũng có vài điểm sáng giống tựa game kia. Các màn chơi rất rất rộng, với rất nhiều cơ hội để khám phá các bí mật được ẩn giấu giữa môi trường xung quanh. Tuy nhiên, bởi vì định hướng đơn giản của mình nên tựa game sẽ không cho bạn đi xa quá con đường chính đạo nên chỉ một lát là bạn sẽ lại quay về vị trí ban đầu thôi.

Lúc khởi đầu bạn sẽ nhận được một món vũ khí dùng để tiêu diệt kẻ địch, nhưng bạn cũng có thể dùng các vật phẩm khác như trái cây hay một miếng gỗ để tạo đường đi, tránh chướng ngại vật, Hệ thống vật phẩm cũng khá là đơn giản, vật phẩm bạn kiếm được sẽ xuất hiện ở phía trên màn hình, bạn chỉ cần nhấn X để mở hành trang và dùng D-pad để tìm vật phẩm cần thiết. Chìa khóa là một trong những vật phẩm quan trọng nhất vì bạn cần chúng để mở khóa các chiếc rương được đặt khắp màn chơi

Gameplay khá chậm, nhưng vì đây là mục đích của trò chơi nên cũng không hẳn là điểm yếu. Và nếu bạn là fan của các trò giải đố phiêu lưu thì trò này là một trò tuy lạ miệng nhưng cũng rất phù hợp, game đánh bài đổi thẻ ,từ các trò đơn giản như chỉ cần đẩy các chướng ngại vật để đến nơi cao hơn hay các trò phức tạp hơn như giải đố như trò xếp gạch Tetris để mở khóa một chiếc cổng. Và tất nhiên là sẽ có hướng dẫn, thông qua các viên đã ma thuật đóng vai trò như là tiền tệ của game.

Về mặt thị giác thì đồ họa của tựa game phải nói là rất đẹp. nhưng phần khung hình thì rất thất thường. Ở chế độ handheld thì fps rất trồi sụt, và ngay cả chế độ dock cũng không khá hơn khi mà chúng cũng có tình trạng trễ khung hình. Nhà sản xuất đã lên tiếng xác nhận và hứa sẽ có bản cập nhật sớm nhất để sửa, do đó lúc này ta đành sống chung với lũ vậy. Ngoài ra thì đôi lúc tựa game có vài lỗi chính tả rất khó hiểu, chúng không thật sự gây ảnh hưởng đến gameplay nhưng nếu bạn là cảnh sát chính tả thì bạn sẽ khá khó chịu đó.
